Wilderland is a unique experimental
living and learning centre, operating as
an educational trust, and organic community
on the Coromandel Peninsula of
Aotearoa New Zealand.

Established in 1964 by Dan & Edith Hansen, Wilderland has continuously evolved for more than half a century, an example of an alternative approach to living through sustainability and collective management.

“My underlying concern has been simply to live intelligently; to learn from whatever occurs, to be open to experimentation and exploration and in a way which is not bound by a conclusion.”

Dan Hansen [co-founder], 1994
